Hong Kong-based content distributor Medialink Entertainment has announced on Thursday they have acquired the upcoming anime Otaku Elf.
The upcoming fantasy comedy series is scheduled to premiere on 08 April, which will stream on their Ani-One Asia YouTube channel every Saturdays at 03:00am PHT, within two hours after its initial Japanese telecast.
The anime will also be made available to their streaming platform partners in the region.
Koganei Koito works as the teenage shrine maiden at the Takamimi Shrine, catering to the whims of Elda, an ancient elf who’s obsessed with video games! Elda is a total otaku who won’t go outside and Koganei has to help with her unusual requests. These include bringing her energy drinks, food, manga, video games, and more. Otaku Elf is an anime adaptation of a Japanese fantasy comedy manga series by Akihiko Higuchi, which is being published in Kodansha’s Shonen Magazine Edge magazine, under their Magazine Edge KC imprint, since June 2019.
The manga currently has seven (7) volumes published.
Takebumi Anzai, who worked on the comedy anime Hitori Bocchi no Marumaru Seikatsu, will direct the upcoming anime series, while Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma anime scriptwriter Shogo Yasukawa will handle the series composition.
The upcoming anime’s character designs will be handled by Takeshi Oda, who previously worked on the adventure anime Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina, which will be animated by C2C. Akito Matsuda, who worked on the popular anime series Sound! Euphonium, will handle the music composition.
Japanese voice cast will be lead by Yuka Ozaki (Asuka Toyama, BanG Dream! franchise), who will play the role of the teenage shrine maiden Koito Koganei, and Ami Koshimizu (Kallen Kozuki, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion), who will play the otaku elf Elda.
Otaku Elf will be an addition to previously announced anime titles acquired by Medialink Entertainment for the Spring 2023 season.
This includes the upcoming fantasy comedy anime Mashle: Magic and Muscles, the Second Seasons of Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury and In Another World with My Smartphone, the Third Season of Dr. STONE, the upcoming drama anime Oshi no Ko, the upcoming romantic comedy anime A Galaxy Next Door, the Second Season of Birdie Wing: Golf Girls’ Story, the upcoming mecha anime Alice Gear Aegis Expansion, the upcoming suspense anime My Home Hero, the upcoming anime Konosuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World!, and the upcoming dark fantasy anime Dead Mount Death Play.
