The producers of the Synduality mixed-media franchise has revealed more details about their upcoming anime series during their stage event at AnimeJapan 2023 on Sunday.
The producers, composed Bandai Namco Entertainment, Bandai Namco Filmworks and Bandai Spirits, has announced that their upcoming anime project will be titled Synduality: Noir.
The upcoming anime is set to premiere in July, which will stream exclusively on Disney+ worldwide on a simulcast basis.
The franchise also confirms the name of the upcoming video game, titled Synduality: Echo of Ada, which is set to be released within 2023 on multiple platforms, such as Sony PlayStation 5, Microsoft Xbox Series S and X, and PC through Steam.
They also released a manga spinoff is also in the works, titled Synduality: Ellie, focused on the titular character, which is set to launch on Kadokawa’s Monthly Comic Alive magazine, as well as light novel series under the publisher’s MF Bunko J imprint.
In addition, another novel spinoff will also be published, tentatively called Synduality: Kaleido, in Hobby Japan’s Monthly Hobby Japan magazine. No tentative release date has been announced for the manga and novel adaptations.
Sony has described the upcoming game of the franchise:
The year is 2222. It has been years since Tears of the New Moon, a mysterious rain, poured and wiped out almost the entire human race. The poisonous rain gave birth to deformed creatures devouring for humans, and humanity fled from the danger. As means for survival, the humans then build an underground haven; Amasia. In this new built dystopian city, on a pursuit of maintaining their existence, they run into an Artificial Intelligence named Magus. Not knowing how things will work between them, the story of how Humans and AI coinciding and trying to find their truths begin.
The video game will be set in the year 2222, while the upcoming anime series will be 20 years after in 2242.
Synduality: Noir will be directed by Yusuke Yamamoto, who previously worked on anime titles such as Sgt. Keroro and Encouragement of Climb, while Rascal Does Not Dream series creator Hajime Kamoshida is credited for the original story and Takashi Aoshima handling the anime’s series composition.
Character designs will be done by Kenichiro Katsura, who worked on popular titles like The Fruit of Grisaia, Macross 7 and That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, which will be animated by 8-bit.
Masato Nakayama, who worked on music for anime shows We Never Learn: BOKUBEN and 22/7, will also be part of the upcoming series.
The upcoming action role-playing video game series will be produced by Bandai Namco’s Yosuke Futami, while Augmented Reality Girls Trinary’s neco will design the characters.
Ippei Gyobu, who previously worked in the mechanical designs for Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury and Gundam Build Divers, will handle coffin design.
The upcoming game will be published by Bandai Namco Entertainment.
