Murasaki Shion, a virtual YouTuber of hololive Production, announced that she would be graduating from the agency on Saturday, April 26.
Shion, who is one of the second-generation members of the vtuber agency, announced an emotional stream on Thursday, citing “differences in direction” as the reason for her departure.
Cover Corporation, the parent company of hololive Production, has released a statement on their website and their social media platforms saying, “As a second-generation member, Murasaki Shion has been an integral part of hololive for nearly seven years, playing a significant growth and success of hololive production since its early days.”
The company announced that it will be accepting fan letters for Murasaki Shion until April 25 (Friday) as its final receiving date, and her YouTube membership content will be available until July 26 (Saturday) at 11:59pm Japan time.
Murasaki Shion is a member of hololive Production’s second generation, together with Nakiri Ayame, Yuzuki Choco, Oozora Subaru and Minato Aqua, who made their streaming debut between August and September 2018.
Minato Aqua has recently graduated from the company in August of last year, citing “differences in opinion with the management” as her reason, but she did not elaborate further.
“Graduation” refers to a contracted talent ending all activities and leaving the agency to pursue outside opportunities or retirement from the industry, originating from graduation concerts done by female idol groups such as AKB48 and Nogizaka46.
