Events organizer Cosplay.ph has announced on Friday that they are bringing the popular Japanese anisong artist May’n on their flagship event Cosplay Mania ’19, which is scheduled to happen this September.

This will be the second time the popular singer will perform in the Philippines, after appearing for the first time during ANIMAX Carnival Philippines in 2016.

She will be in addition to previously announced musical guests, Japanese pop rock band MYTH & ROID, singer Asaka and DJ Yasutaka Nakata, who will be a part of the popular event’s JAM Concert performance.

May’n is a popular Japanese anisong artist from Nagoya, who first started her music career in 2005. She is currently under the well-known Horipro talent agency and signed under the music label Victor Entertainment.

She is famously known as the singing voice of the character “Sheryl Nome” in the highly-popular anime Macross Frontier.

Since then, she has performed several theme songs for anime shows, including Shangri-La, Aria the Scarlet Ammo, Phi Brain: Puzzle of God, Accel World and The Ancient Magus’ Bride among others. She had also collaborated with the now-defunct idol unit Wake Up! Girls for the song “One in a Billion”, which was used as the opening theme for Restaurant to Another World.

She is set to release her latest album “YELL!!” this July 31, as well as the single “Kiba to Tsubasa”, which will be used as the ending theme song of the upcoming action anime series Kochoki: Wakaki Nobunaga.

May’n has performed in several events in Japan, including Animelo Summer Live, as well as performances in the United States and around the world. She has been a regular fixture at Anime Festival Asia in Singapore since 2008, as well as its regional inceptions.

She had held her first solo concert at Nippon Budokan in 2010, which was sold out in just one day.

In 2013, She had represented Japan in the ABU TV Song Festival 2013 in Hanoi, Vietnam with her single “Vivid”.

Aside from the musical guest, they will also be joined by Japanese stage actor Allen Kohatsu, and cosplayer guests VENaS Japan, REA KAMI and BoiledCurry.

More special guests and musical performers are expected to be announced in the coming weeks. Tickets for Silver and Gold tiers are now on sale at smtickets.com, while VIP ticket availability will be announced at a later date.

Cosplay Mania ’19 will happen on September 28-29 at the SMX Convention Center – Manila. For more details, please visit their website at cosplaymania.com and their official Facebook page at facebook.com/cosplayph.
