PASAY CITY, Philippines — Event organizer Cosplay.ph has announced during their Anime & Cosplay Expo event on Sunday the first two musical guests for their flagship event Cosplay Mania ’19 happening this September.

The Japanese pop rock band MYTH & ROID and singer Asaka will perform at the JAM Concert portion of one of the country’s biggest Japanese pop-culture events.

Separately, the organizers also announced on Saturday that Japanese stage actor Allen Kohatsu will also grace the event, making his Manila debut.

Allen Kohatsu

Allen Kohatsu is a Japanese stage actor, known for playing “Hajime Iwaizumi” in the Hyper Projection Play “Haikyuu!!” stage play adaptation, replacing Yuya Hirata.

Since then, Kohatsu has been in a variety of stage plays, including Glass Mask, K project, Brave 10, and Uta no Prince-sama. He is set to play “Nanjo Koki” in the latest stage play adaptation of Starmyu, which is scheduled to happen in August this year.

 

 

MYTH & ROID

MYTH & ROID is a Japanese pop rock band composed by Tom-H@ck, who not only acts as the music composer and producer, but also plays the guitars and bass, and hotaru, who handles keyboards, as well as the band’s lyricist, with multiple vocalists.

The band was first known in 2015 for the song “L.L.L.”, used as the ending theme song for the popular anime series Overlord. They have since performed several theme song for the popular anime’s television and film adaptations.

The band has since performed for other anime shows like BBK/BRNK, The Saga of Tanya the Devil, and Re:Zero – Starting Life in a New World. Their latest single was “shadowgraph”, which was used as the opening theme song for the horror anime series Boogiepop and Others.

 

 

Asaka

Asaka is a Japanese musician from Nagoya, who was first known for the song “Open your eyes”, which was used as the ending theme song for the 2016 supernatural anime series Occultic;Nine.

The following year, she had performed the song “Edelweiss”, which was used as the ending theme song for the slice-of-life comedy anime A Centaur’s Life.

Last year, she performed “Shiny Days”, which is the opening theme song of the highly-popular slice-of-life anime series Laid-Back Camp (Yurucamp), and “Eternal Star”, which is the ending theme of the sci-fi drama anime Island.

Asaka’s latest single is “Kono Yo no Hate de Koi o Utau Shoujo”, which is being used in the 2019 remake of the sci-fi anime series YU-NO: A girl who chants love at the bound of this world.

 

They will join previously announced cosplayer guests, Japanese cosplayer duo VENaS Japan, and Singaporean cosplayers REA KAMI and BoiledCurry in the much-awaited September extravaganza.

More special guests and musical performers are expected to be announced in the coming weeks. Tickets for Silver and Gold tiers are now on sale at smtickets.com, while VIP ticket availability will be announced at a later date.
