Anime Pilipinas has learned important details regarding the much-awaited event ANIMAX Carnival Philippines 2016, which is set to happen on October 15 to 16.
Japanese anisong artists ELISA, yanaginagi, Ami Wajima and May’n is set to headline the upcoming event in a concert, with two artists performing on each day. This will be the first time they will be performing in the country.
ELISA and yanaginagi will be performing on Saturday, October 15, while Ami Wajima and May’n will be performing on Sunday, October 16.
ELISA
エリサ
Elisa is a Japanese singer and fashion model from Kanagawa Prefecture, currently signed to SME Records since 2013.
She started her music career in 2007 with the debut single “Euphoric field”, which was used as the opening theme for the anime Ef – A Tale of Memories. She also performed themes from popular anime series To Aru Kagaku no Railgun, Valvrave the Liberator and anime movies Hayate the Combat Butler! Heaven Is a Place on Earth and Expelled from Paradise.
She had released five (5) albums and appeared in events like Animelo Summer Live, Anime Festival Asia in Singapore and Sakura-Con in the United States.
Nagi Yanagi
やなぎなぎ
Nagi Yanagi is a Japanese singer-songwriter from Osaka, currently signed to NBCUniversal Entertainment (Geneon).
Yanagi started her music career in posting cover versions of songs online in 2005, as well as producing original music the next year. In early 2008, she started collaborating with the Japanese band Supercell and performed in songs like “Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari”, which was used as a theme for the hit anime Bakemonogatari, and “Utakata Hanabi”, which was used as a theme for the anime Naruto Shippuden.
She made her solo debut in 2012 with Geneon with the single “Vidro Moyo”, which was used as the ending theme to the anime series Waiting in the Summer. She has also performed theme music for popular anime series like Jormungand, My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU and most recently, the 2016 anime series Norn9 and Berserk. She also portrayed a voice role in the Norn9 video game and anime series, as the cyborg “Aion”.
She has released eight (8) albums in her career, several singles and collaborated with various artists. She also performed in events like Anime Festival Asia, where she had performed two times in Singapore and one in the Indonesian leg.
Ami Wajima
和島あみ
Ami Wajima is an up-and-coming singer from Japan, signed to Pony Canyon.
She had recently made her debut with her first single “Gensou Drive” for the anime series The Lost Village, which entered at the Japanese “Oricon” singles chart at Number 43. She also released the single “Eien Loop” for the anime Kuromukuro.
MAY’N
May’n is a popular Japanese anisong singer, currently signed to Victor Entertainment since 2007.
She is well-known in performing theme songs for the anime series including Shangri-La, Aria the Scarlet Ammo, Phi Brain: Puzzle of God, Accel World and Inari, Konkon, Koi Iroha among others. She was also the singing voice of the character “Sheryl Nome” of the highly-popular anime Macross Frontier.
She also performed in events like Animelo Summer Live and became a regular fixture in Anime Festival Asia events. She also had her solo concert at Nippon Budokan in 2010, as well as performances in the United States.
She also represented Japan in the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) Television Song Festival held in Hanoi, Vietnam in 2013.
The singer was scheduled to perform on ANIMAX Carnival Philippines 2013, but the event was cancelled that year out of respect to the victims of Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) in November of that year.
Ticket operator SM Tickets has released the ticket prices for the event on Thursday, which shows the ticket price tiers at PHP299.00, PHP499.00, PHP799.00 and “Oo-kun’s Golden Ticket” at PHP1,200.
A representative of the network has told APN that each ticket tiers will have their own access areas and goodies upon entry. The representative also clarified that each ticket will be valid for all two days of the event, which meant that one ticket is enough to gain access to ANIMAX Carnival Philippines 2016 for both days.
PHP299.00 ticket will have access to the “Edo-inspired” and “ANIMAX City” exhibitor areas.
PHP499.00 ticket will have access to the “Edo-inspired” and “ANIMAX City” exhibitor areas, and the stage activities (concert not included).
PHP799.00 ticket will have access to the “Edo-inspired” and “ANIMAX City” exhibitor areas, and the stage activities including the concert.
Oo-kun’s Golden Ticket will have access to all areas, plus VIP priority access to the Anisong concert.
ANIMAX Carnival Philippines 2016 is also set to have a cosplay and fashion competition, but the full details and mechanics will be announced in the coming days.
ANIMAX Carnival Philippines 2016 is happening on October 15-16 at Main Halls 1 and 2 of the SMX Convention Center – Manila, inside the Mall of Asia complex in Pasay City.
