ANIPLUS Asia to simulcast The Rising of The Shield Hero this Winter 2019

The story of a university student that has been transported to another world, overcoming odds to be the legendary Shield Hero.

Southeast Asian anime channel ANIPLUS Asia has announced on Tuesday that they will simulcast the fantasy anime series The Rising of the Shield Hero this Winter 2019.

The anime will have a one-hour special premiere on Wednesday, January 9, at 11:00pm (10:00pm JKT/BKK).

New episodes airing every Wednesday nights at 11:00pm (10:00pm JKT/BKK), which is two hours after the initial Japanese telecast.

Encore telecast airs every Thursday nights at 06:00pm (05:00pm JKT/BKK).

Through a chanced encounter with a book at the library, ordinary university student Naofumi Iwatani is summoned to another world, where the legend of the four Legendary Heroes of Sword, Sphere, Bow and Shield presides. The Shield of the Rising Hero is an upcoming anime adaptation of a light novel series by Aneko Yusagi, which is being published by Kadokawa’s Media Factory, under the MF Books imprint, since 2013.

The light novel currently has 20 volumes.

 

The anime adaptation will be directed by Takao Abo, who previously worked on Macross Frontier, while Blast of Tempest scriptwriter Keigo Koyanagi will handle the series composition.

Masahiro Suwa, who worked as the chief animation director of Chaika: The Coffin Princess anime series, will handle character designs, which will be produced by Kinema Citrus.

The Japanese voice cast will be lead by Kaito Ishikawa (“Ryo Kaidai”, Beatless) as “Naofumi Iwatani” and Asami Seto (“Asagi Aiba”, Strike the Blood) as “Raphtalia”.

 

The Rising of the Shield Hero will be the fifth simulcast title for ANIPLUS Asia this Winter 2019 season.

The anime channel previously announced the simulcast airings of The Promised Neverland starting January 11, B-PROJECT -Zeccho*Emotion- starting January 12, Kemono Friends 2 starting January 8, and Boogiepop and Others on January 4.

 

ANIPLUS Asia is available in the Philippines on SKYcable Channel 139 (Metro Manila, CAMANAVA, Rizal, Bulacan and Laguna), G Sat Channel 66 in High-definition (Nationwide), and in select provincial cable providers around the country.
