Hong Kong-based content distributor MediaLink Entertainment Limited has announced on Monday that they have acquired the upcoming anime Jujutsu Kaisen.
The anime adaptation of Gege Akutami’s supernatural manga series is scheduled to premiere in Japan on Saturday, October 3.
In a world where cursed spirits feed on unsuspecting humans, fragments of the legendary and feared demon Ryomen Sukuna were lost and scattered about. Jujutsu Kaisen is an upcoming anime adaptation of a Japanese supernatural manga series by Gege Akutami, which is being published in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine since March 2018 and currently has 12 volumes.
The manga is also being published simultaneously in English and other languages through digital manga services like Viz Media’s Shonen Jump and Shueisha’s Manga Plus.
The upcoming anime adaptation will be directed by Sung Hoo Park, who recently worked in the Japanese anime adaptation of the Korean manhwa series The God of High School, while Attack on Titan anime scriptwriter Hiroshi Seko will handle series composition.
Tadahi Hiramasu, who worked on the horror anime Parasyte -the maxim-, will handle character designs, which will be produced by anime studio MAPPA.
Junya Enoki, who voiced “Takeru Takaishi” in the Digimon Adventure tri. anime movie series, will play the lead character “Yuji Itadori”.
He will also be joined by Yuma Uchida (“Kyo Soma”, Fruits Basket 2019 adaptation) as “Megumi Fushiguro”, Asami Seto (“Raphtalia”, The Rising of the Shield Hero) as “Nobara Kugisaki”, Yuichi Nakamura (“Gray Fullbuster”, Fairy Tail series) as “Satoru Gojo” and Junichi Suwabe (“Shinta Fukuda”, Bakuman. series) as “Ryomen Sukuna”.
Jujutsu Kaisen will be the seventh simulcast anime title of MediaLink Entertainment for the Autumn 2020 season.
The company previously announced the simulcast streaming of Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon, I’m Standing on a Million Lives, Higurashi: When They Cry – NEW, By the Grace of the Gods, Iwa-Kakeru! -Sport Climbing Girls- and D4DJ First Mix, which will be streaming on their Ani-One platform starting next month.
