Southeast Asian anime channel ANIMAX Asia has announced on Saturday that they are simulcasting the second season of Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- during the Summer 2020 season.
The upcoming show will premiere on July 9, airing every Thursdays at 08:30pm PHT, within the same day as Japan.
In addition, the anime channel will be airing the original video animation (OVA) adaptations of the popular franchise, Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- Memory Snow and Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- The Frozen Bond.
The anime specials will premiere on July 2 and 3, at 11:00pm PHT, respectively.
Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- is an anime adaptation of a Japanese isekai light novel series by Tappei Nagatsuki, which initially is a self-published web novel since April 2012.
Kadokawa’s Media Factory division picked-up the series and serialized under their MF Bunko J in January 2014, which currently has 23 volumes. Shinichirou Otsuka became the illustrator of the light novel.
ANIMAX Asia described the first season of the anime series:
On his way back from the convenience store, Subaru Natsuki is suddenly brought to an alternate world. Stranded in this unfamiliar world, the powerless Subaru realises that in order to survive, he can only depend on his ability to reverse time. However, the catch to this ability of his is that it is activated whenever he dies. Despite so, he will stand against the odds and face the cruel fate that awaits him.
The anime adaptation is directed by Masaharu Watanabe, who previously handled key animation of Air drama anime, while Beelzebub scriptwriter Masahiru Yokotani handles the series composition.
Kyuta Sakai, who previously worked on Higurashi: When They Cry anime series, handling character designs, which is being produced by WHITE FOX.
The Japanese voice cast are lead by Inori Minase as “Rem”, Rie Murakawa as “Ram”, Rie Takahashi as “Emilia” and Yusuke Kobayashi as “Subaru Natsuki”.
The staff and cast of the first season are returning to work on the upcoming season, with Konomi Suzuki performing the second season’s opening theme song “Realize” and nonoc performing the ending theme song “Memento”.
ANIMAX Asia first aired Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- in January 2017.
The anime channel is currently airing Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- Director’s Cut, which is an expanded hour-long version of the first season, started last June 15.
