Anime Pilipinas has learned that Pan-regional anime channel ANIMAX Asia is set to premiere Re: ZERO –Starting Life in Another World– and Handa-kun this January.

The popular action-adventure anime Fairy Tail returns with the premiere of its sixth season.

On his way back from the convenience store, Subaru Natsuki is suddenly brought to an alternate world. Stranded in this unfamiliar world, the powerless Subaru realises that in order to survive, he can only depend on his ability to reverse time. However, the catch to this ability of his is that it is activated whenever he dies. Despite so, he will stand against the odds and face the cruel fate that awaits him.

Re: ZERO is an anime adaptation of a Japanese light novel series, written by Tappei Nagatsuki and illustrated by Shinichirou Otsuka, which is initially published by website Shosetsuka ni Naro since April 2012 and  Media Factory’s MF Bunko J since January 2014.

The anime adaptation is directed by Masaharu Watanabe, who also directed the slice-of-life comedy anime Wakaba Girl, while Beelzebub scriptwriter Masahiro Yokotani handled the series composition. Kyuta Sakai, who handled character designs for Steins;Gate, adapted Otsuka’s character designs, which was produced by WHITE FOX.

The Japanese voice cast are lead by Yusuke Kobayashi (“Arslan”, The Heroic Legend of Arslan) as “Subaru Natsuki”, Rie Takahashi (“Ayana Aizawa”, Captain Earth) as “Emilia”, Inori Minase (“Yuki Takeya”, School-Live!) as “Rem” and Rie Murakawa (“Nao Mashiba”, Wakaba Girl) as “Ram”.

Re: Zero –Starting Life in Another World– premieres on January 13, airing double episodes every Thursday and Friday nights at 10:00pm (09:00pm JKT/BKK).

Sei Handa is a handsome high school student who is worshiped and deeply respected by his classmates due to the aloof yet charismatic aura he gives out. To them, he is perfect and out of their league, and no one dares to approach him carelessly. However, for Sei and his inherent negative personality, he constantly mistakes such respect as hatred and hostility towards him, leading to unexpected hilarious situations.

Handa-kun is an anime adaptation of Barakamon’s spin-off manga series, which was written by Satsuki Yoshino and serialized by Square Enix’s Monthly Shonen Gangan from October 2013 to June 2016. The spin-off manga has seven (7) volumes.

The anime adaptation is directed by Yoshitaka Koyama, who also directed the anime series Rune Soldier, while Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE! scriptwriter Michiko Yokote handles the scripts. Mayuko Matsumoto, who handled the animation of Kantai Collection anime series, worked on the show’s character designs, which is produced by diomedea.

Nobunaga Shimazaki, who previously portrayed “Haruka Nanase” in the popular sports anime Free!, voiced the lead character “Sei Handa”.

Handa-kun premieres on January 18, airing double episodes every Wednesday and Thursday nights at 08:00pm (07:00pm JKT/BKK).

Fairy Tail – Season 6 premieres on January 17, airing double episodes every Monday and Tuesday nights at 10:00pm (09:00pm JKT/BKK).

 

In a related story, ANIMAX Asia’s channel assignment on direct-to-home provider Cignal TV has been moved from Channel 34 to 73, which was effective since Monday, December 19.

The anime channel can still be seen on SKYcable Channel 46, Destiny Cable Channel 46, Dream Satellite TV Channel 07, G Sat Channel 24 and in several provincial cable providers nationwide.
