Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- Director’s Cut is an updated version of the television anime’s first season, featuring additional footage and episode re-edited to run in a one-hour timeslot.
ANIMAX Asia described the first season of the anime series:
On his way back from the convenience store, Subaru Natsuki is suddenly brought to an alternate world. Stranded in this unfamiliar world, the powerless Subaru realises that in order to survive, he can only depend on his ability to reverse time. However, the catch to this ability of his is that it is activated whenever he dies. Despite so, he will stand against the odds and face the cruel fate that awaits him.
The first season of the anime, directed by Masaharu Watanabe, scripts by Masahiro Yokotani and characters designed by Kyuta Sakai, was aired on ANIMAX Asia in January 2017.
The popular anime is set to have a second season, which was initially set to premiere in April this year but was delayed to July due to the effects in the production caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
