Southeast Asian anime channel ANIPLUS Asia has announced on Friday they will simulcast the upcoming anime series Blue Orchestra.
The upcoming coming-of-age drama anime is set to premiere on 14 April, which airs every Friday nights at 06:30pm PHT, airing days after its Japanese telecast.
This will be the anime channel’s sixth simulcast anime title for the Spring 2023 season, after The Dangers in My Heart, Skip and Loafer, Sacrificial Princess and The King of Beasts, the Second Season of The Ancient Magus’ Bride and Magical Destroyers.
Blue Orchestra (青のオーケストラ) is an upcoming anime adaptation of a Japanese manga series by Makoto Akui, which is being published in Kodansha’s digital platforms Ura Sunday and MangaONE since April 2017 and currently has 10 volumes.
The manga’s story is about Hajime Aono, who was a violin prodigy but decided to stop playing the instrument due to family circumstances. He then met a girl who told him about a high school with a prestigious orchestra club, and restores his passion for music.
Last January, the manga has won the Best Shonen Manga in the 68th Shogakukan Manga Award, tie with Kotoyama’s Call of the Night.
Seiji Kishi, who previously worked on Classroom of the Elite and Yuki Yuna is a Hero anime adaptations, will direct the upcoming anime series, while Tsukigakirei anime scriptwrier Yuuko Kakihara will handle the series composition.
Kazuaki Morita, who also worked on both Classroom of the Elite and Tsukigakirei anime series, will work on the character designs, which will be animated by Nippon Animation.
Akira Kosemura, who worked on the original net animation Futari-bun no Shoumei, will handle the upcoming anime’s music, with orchestra performance by the Senzoku Gakuen Philharmonic Orchestra.
Japanese rock band Novelbright will perform the anime’s opening theme song “Cantabile”. The ending theme song will be “Yuusari no Canon feat. ‘Yuika’,” with Soshina composing the song and Yuika performing.
The Japanese voice cast will be lead by Shouya Chiba, who previously voiced Kiyotaka Ayanokouji in the anime series Classroom of the Elite, as “Hajime Aono”.
He will be joined by Ai Kakuma (Eris Boreas Greyrat, Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation anime) as “Ritsuko Akine”, Shimba Tsuchiya (Takeshi Yamada, Police in a Pod anime series) as “Nao Saeki” and Minako Satou (Aoi Akane, Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun) as Haru Kozakura, among others.
