Southeast Asian anime channel ANIPLUS Asia has announced on Friday that they have acquired the upcoming anime Skip and Loafer.
The anime series will premiere on 04 April, which airs every Tuesdays at 11:00pm PHT, just an hour after its initial Japanese telecast.
This will be the anime channel’s second simulcast title for the Spring 2023 season, after the upcoming romantic comedy The Dangers in My Heart.
Skip and Loafer is an upcoming anime adaptation of a Japanese romantic comedy manga series by Misaki Takamatsu, which has been running on Kodansha’s Monthly Afternoon magazine since August 2018.
As of March 2023, the manga currently has eight (8) volumes published.
Seven Seas Entertainment, which licensed the manga in English, described the series:
Excellent student Iwakura Mitsumi has always dreamt about leaving her small town, going to a prestigious university, and making positive change in the world. But she’s so focused on reaching her goals that she’s not prepared for the very different (and overwhelming) city life that awaits her in a Tokyo high school. Luckily, she makes fast friends with Shima Sousuke, a handsome classmate who’s as laid-back as she is over-prepared. Can this naive country girl make it big in Tokyo with Sousuke by her side?
Kotomi Deai, who directed the fifth and sixth seasons of the popular drama anime Natsume’s Book of Friends, will direct Skip and Loafer’s anime adaptation, as well as handling its scripts.
Manami Umeshita, who previously worked in the slice-of-life action anime Stella Women’s Academy, High School Division Class C3, will handle the upcoming anime’s character designs, which will be produced by anime studio P.A. Works.
The Japanese voice cast will be lead by Akinori Egoshi, who voiced Dexter Culastor in Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans, as “Sousuke Shima” and Tomoyo Kurasawa, who voiced Itsuki Inubozaki in the Yuki Yuna is a Hero anime adaptations, as “Mitsumi Iwakura”.
ANIPLUS Asia is available on SKYcable Channel 139 SD in Metro Manila, CAMANAVA and Rizal, Cignal TV Channel 75 and SatLite Channel 85.
The anime channel is also being offered as a live stream on TapGO TV in High Definition for as low at ₱129 per month. Visit tapgo.tv for more details.
