Philippine media company ABS-CBN has announced that the live-action film adaptation of Naoshi Arakawa’s Your Lie in April manga will air on Kapamilya Channel this Holy Week.
The film will air on Black Saturday, April 16, at 11:00pm, right after the Easter Vigil Mass.
The airing of the live-action film will be in addition to Tomohiko Ito’s 2019 original anime film Hello World, which will make its Philippine television premiere on Maundy Thursday, April 14.

Kosei Arima won numerous piano competitions while under the strict watch of his mother. He was known as the human metronome during that time. Since the death of his mother, Kosei Arima has been unable to hear the sound of his piano. Kosei Arima then meets Kaori Miyazono through childhood friend Tsubaki Sawabe. Your Lie in April, also known by its Japanese title “Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso”, is a live-action theatrical film based on the romantic drama series by Naoshi Arakawa, which was published in Kadokawa’s Monthly Shonen Magazine from April 2011 to February 2015 and has a total of 11 volumes.
The manga also inspired a popular television anime adaptation, which was aired in Japan from October 2014 to March 2015, as well as light novel, manga and original video animation spinoffs.
ABS-CBN’s defunct anime channel HEROtv aired the television anime adaptation in Tagalog dubbing in April 2015.
Your Lie in April has been directed by Takehiko Shinjo, who also directed the 2011 live-action film adaptation of Paradise Kiss, while screenplay was made by Yukari Tatsui.
The lead cast of the movie are Kento Yamazaki (“Kyouya Sata”, Wolf Girl and Black Prince live-action film) as “Kosei Arima” and Suzu Hirose (“Chihaya Ayase”, Chihayafuru live-action films) as “Kaori Miyazono”.
The movie premiered in Japanese cinemas in September 2016, which was in third place on its opening weekend.
Your Lie in April’s live-action film adaptation was released in Philippine cinemas by film distributor Pioneer Films in December 2016, which ran for about two weeks.
The film made its Philippine television premiere through ABS-CBN’s defunct free-to-air Asian entertainment channel Asianovela Channel in September 2018.
