In addition to the launching of the high-definition (HD) channel this month, Pan-regional anime channel ANIMAX Asia has announced that the popular action comedy anime Assassination Classroom is set to premiere this January.

Class 3-E is the lowest class at Kunugigaoka Junior High School. It is also the location of a government confidential assassination of their homeroom teacher, a powerful yellow octopoid creature who threatens to destroy the Earth. Despite the hefty reward of ¥10 billion, it soon dawned onto the students that it is an almost impossible mission. One, their homeroom teacher has several super powers at his disposal, capable of moving at Mach 20. Two, he is invincible. Three, he is also the best teacher they ever had. Will the students succeed in their mission to assassinate their invincible teacher before it is too late?

Assassination Classroom, also known as “Ansatsu Kyoshitsu”, is an anime adaptation of a manga series, written and illustrated by Yusei Matsui, which is currently serialized by Shueisha on Weekly Shonen Jump magazine since July 2012. The manga currently has 16 volumes.

The anime adaptation is directed by Seiji Kishi, written by Makoto Uezu and character designs by Kazuaki Morita, who worked on popular anime adaptations Arpeggio of Blue Steel and Danganronpa the Animation. It is produced by anime studio Lerche.

The anime is also set to have a second season airing on Fuji Television this January.

The Japanese voice cast are lead by Jun Fukuyama (“Haruma Yamazaki”, Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches) as “Koro-sensei”, Nobuhiko Okamoto (“Mizuki”, Kamisama Kiss) as “Karma Akabane”, Mai Fuchigami (“Iona”, Arpeggio of Blue Steel) as “Nagisa Shiota”, and Aya Suzaki (“Shizuka Hoshijiro”, Knights of Sidonia) as “Kaede Kayano”.

Assassination Classroom is set to premiere on Monday, January 4, airing two episodes back-to-back every Monday and Tuesday nights at 10:00pm MNL/SG (09:00pm JKT/BKK).
