The cast and staff of the popular anime series Jujutsu Kaisen has revealed that they will be getting a Second Season in 2023.

The announcement regarding the popular television anime series was made during an afternoon screening event of the anime film Jujutsu Kaisen 0 on Saturday.

 

Gege Akutami, the author of the popular series, has posted an illustration on Twitter commemorating the success of the anime film and the announcement of the Second Season.

The illustration features a comment from the author thanking the manga readers, anime viewers and its production team for the success of the series.

Jujutsu Kaisen is an anime adaptation of a Japanese supernatural manga series by Gege Akutami, which is being published in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine since March 2018 and currently has 15 volumes.

The manga is also being published simultaneously in English and other languages through digital manga services like Viz Media’s Shonen Jump and Shueisha’s Manga Plus.

 

The anime adaptation is directed by Sung Hoo Park, who worked in the Japanese anime adaptation of the Korean manhwa series The God of High School, while Attack on Titan anime scriptwriter Hiroshi Seko handled series composition.

Tadahi Hiramasu, who worked on the horror anime Parasyte -the maxim-, handled character designs, which was produced by anime studio MAPPA.

 

Junya Enoki, who voiced “Takeru Takaishi” in the Digimon Adventure tri. anime movie series, will play the lead character “Yuji Itadori”.

He will also be joined by Yuma Uchida (“Kyo Soma”, Fruits Basket 2019 adaptation) as “Megumi Fushiguro”, Asami Seto (“Raphtalia”, The Rising of the Shield Hero) as “Nobara Kugisaki”, Yuichi Nakamura (“Gray Fullbuster”, Fairy Tail series) as “Satoru Gojo” and Junichi Suwabe (“Shinta Fukuda”, Bakuman. series) as “Ryomen Sukuna”.

 

Hong Kong-based content distributor MediaLink Entertainment Limited has acquired the license of Jujutsu Kaisen in the Asian region during the Autumn 2020 season.

The anime series has been streamed on several platforms in the region, including iQIYI and Netflix.

 

Jujutsu Kaisen 0, which serves as a prequel story of the main manga series, was given an anime film adaptation, and has been released in Japanese cinemas last December.

The anime film opened in December 24, which earned JP¥2,694,128,150 (about PHP1.2 billion) in its first three days and topped the Japanese box office for its opening weekend.

As of February 06, the film now earned JP¥10,456,322,400 (about PHP4.63 billion) in the Japanese box office, selling over 7.6 million tickets.
