The popular supernatural anime series Jujutsu Kaisen has announced on Friday that the manga series Jujutsu Kaisen 0 will get an anime film adaptation.
The announcement was first made during the airing of the 24th episode of the popular anime series, which with a dedicated website launched immediately after.
The website also uploaded its first key visual for the anime film, as well as its teaser.
The upcoming anime film will be based on Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High School manga series, which served as a prequel story to the main series.
The manga is created by Gege Akutami, which was published in Shueisha’s Jump GIGA magazine from April to July 2017 and has released a compilation volume.
The upcoming film will be produced by anime studio MAPPA and distributed by Japanese entertainment company TOHO, which is set to be released in Japanese theaters in Winter this year.

Jujutsu Kaisen is an anime adaptation of a Japanese supernatural manga series by Gege Akutami, which is being published in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine since March 2018 and currently has 15 volumes.
The manga is also being published simultaneously in English and other languages through digital manga services like Viz Media’s Shonen Jump and Shueisha’s Manga Plus.
The anime adaptation is directed by Sung Hoo Park, who worked in the Japanese anime adaptation of the Korean manhwa series The God of High School, while Attack on Titan anime scriptwriter Hiroshi Seko handled series composition.
Tadahi Hiramasu, who worked on the horror anime Parasyte -the maxim-, handled character designs, which was produced by anime studio MAPPA.
Junya Enoki, who voiced “Takeru Takaishi” in the Digimon Adventure tri. anime movie series, will play the lead character “Yuji Itadori”.
He will also be joined by Yuma Uchida (“Kyo Soma”, Fruits Basket 2019 adaptation) as “Megumi Fushiguro”, Asami Seto (“Raphtalia”, The Rising of the Shield Hero) as “Nobara Kugisaki”, Yuichi Nakamura (“Gray Fullbuster”, Fairy Tail series) as “Satoru Gojo” and Junichi Suwabe (“Shinta Fukuda”, Bakuman. series) as “Ryomen Sukuna”.
Hong Kong-based content distributor MediaLink Entertainment Limited has acquired the license of Jujutsu Kaisen in the Asian region during the Autumn 2020 season.
The anime series has been streamed on several platforms in the region, including iQIYI and Netflix.
