Haikyuu!! is an anime adaptation of a Japanese shonen manga series, written and illustrated by Haruichi Furudate, which is being serialized by Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine since February 2012. The manga currently has 24 volumes.
The anime adaptation is directed by Susumu Mitsunaka, who also worked on two seasons of Big Windup!, while Silver Spoon scriptwriter Taku Kishimoto handled both writing and arrangements of the scripts. Character designs were made by Takahiro Kishida, which was produced by Production I.G.
The first season of Haikyuu!! first premiered on terrestrial network ABS-CBN in April 2015 but was abruptly removed after a week, which garnered criticism from anime fans, but was re-scheduled as a weekly show. The second season has yet to premiere on the main network.
