Southeast Asian anime channel ANIPLUS Asia has announced on Sunday that Nekopara’s television anime adaptation will be airing on a simulcast basis this Winter 2020.
The upcoming anime will premiere on January 9, airing every Thursdays at 09:30pm PHT, within 30 minutes after its initial Japanese telecast.
Nekopara will be the anime channel’s second simulcast anime title for the upcoming season, which follows the announcement of Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story.
Nekopara is an upcoming television anime adaptation of a popular adult visual novel series, developed by Neko Works and published by Sekai Project, first developed in 2014.
The series has inspired an ongoing manga series last year, an upcoming smartphone game, as well as a hugely-popular original video animation (OVA) that became the top-funded animation project in crowdfunding platform Kickstarter in 2017.
The anime’s official website has described the upcoming series:
Kasho Minazuki, a son of a long line of Japanese confection makers, moved out to open his own patisserie “La Soleil”.
When unpacking his stuff, Kashou found two of the catgirls (“neko”) that his family had been raising hiding in the boxes: Chocola and Vanilla. He tried to send them back initially, but they begged and pleaded until he gave in. Now they run La Soleil together.
They spent some great time with the help of Shigure, sister of Kasho, and other catgirls in their family: Azuki, Maple, Cinnamon and Coconut.
One day, when Chocola goes out to run some errands, she meets a kitten.
The story starts with their encounter…
Yasutaka Yamamoto, who previously worked on the slice-of-life comedy anime Servant × Service, will direct the upcoming series, while Blend S scriptwriter Go Zappa will handle the series composition.
Yuichi Hirano, the character designer for the previous two Nekopara OVA series, will return to reprise his role, which will be produced by Felix Film.
Aside from Shinnosuke Tachibana, who played the role of “Kasho Mizunaki”, the characters for the upcoming anime will be voiced by new cast members.
Yuki Nagi, who voiced “Hanako” in the sci-fi comedy anime Kemono Michi: Rise Up, will voice “Chocola” and Iori Saeki, who voiced “Kimie Kamata” in the romantic comedy anime ORESUKI: Are you the only one who loves me?, will voice “Vanilla”.
ANIPLUS Asia is available in the Philippines on SKYcable Channel 139 in Metro Manila, CAMANAVA, Rizal, Bulacan and Laguna, G Sat Channel 73, and in select provincial cable providers around the country.
