Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?, also known by its short title “DanMachi”, is the anime adaptation of the Japanese fantasy light novel series, written by Fujino Omori and illustrated by Suzuhito Yasuda, which is being published by SB Creative under their GA Bunko imprint since January 2013 and currently has 15 volumes.

The light novel has received two manga adaptations, a 13-episode anime adaptation in April 2015, its first original video animation on December 2016, and a smartphone game released in 2017.

Additionally, the light novel also received two light novel spinoffs, Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? On the Side: Sword Oratoria and Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?: Familia Chronicle.

The second season is directed by Hideki Tachibana, who previously worked in Armed Girl’s Machiavellism anime series, who replaced the first season’s director Yoshiki Yamakawa.

Other staffs from the first season, including scriptwriter Hideki Shirane, music composer Keiji Inai and character designer Shigeki Kimoto, returned to work on the second season, which was produced by J.C. Staff.

ANIPLUS Asia had aired the first season of DanMachi on a simulcast basis in Spring of 2015. The series also made its free-to-air premiere on terrestrial broadcaster TV5 in May 2017, which was dubbed in Filipino.

The anime channel aired the second season of the series as part of its simulcast anime titles for the Summer 2019 season.

The anime channel also aired the anime adaptation of its spinoff, Sword Oratoria: Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? On the Side, in Spring 2017.

The light novel series also inspired the anime film Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Arrow of the Orion, which was released in Japanese cinemas on February 2018. The film was also released in overseas territories, including North America, United Kingdom, Australia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea and Southeast Asia.
