Primetrade Asia, Inc. has officially announced on Monday the date of its marquee anime event, The Best of Anime 2019.
According to the cover photo uploaded on its Facebook page, the event is set to be held on August 31 to September 1, 2019, at the SMX Convention Center – Manila, which is located at the Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay City.
The event will be celebrating its ninth iteration ever since it started in 2011 as one of the co-located events of the famed Manila International Book Fair.
The Best of Anime, or “BoA” as the event is more widely known, was the first to bring Japanese music acts to the country, starting with UchuSentai:Noiz in 2012, followed by Joe Inoue and Starmarie in 2013, Heidi in 2014, Eir Aoi in 2015, Luna Haruna and INKT in 2016, SPYAIR in 2017 and Antic Cafe and Valshe last year.
The event previously hosted Face Off: The Ultimate Cosplay Battle, which was a cosplay-centric event organized by the now-defunct Filipino language anime channel HEROtv, as well as the Metro Manila Qualifiers of the World Cosplay Summit Philippines.
In 2017, The event separated from the MIBF to become a full-fledged separate event. Last year, the event moved from the Function Rooms to SMX’s Hall 4, increasing its space, while retaining the concerts at Function Room 1.
Primetrade Asia has not yet released any additional information or teasers for this year’s event, but it is expected that the lineup of guests and the exact venue at the SMX will be announced in the weeks leading up to the event.
