One Punch Man is an anime adaptation of a popular web comic by the author “One” published in 2009, which is a parody of the popular kids character Anpanman. Japanese publisher Shueisha has been publishing a remake since 2012 on its Young Jump Web Comic magazine, which currently has 17 volumes.

The anime adaptation was directed by Shingo Natsume, who worked on the comedy anime series Space Dandy, with scripts handled by Tomohiro Suzuki, who also worked on titles like Tiger and Bunny and Saint Seiya: Legend of Sanctuary movie.

One Piece: Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island movie’s animation director Chikashi Kubota handled character designs, which was produced by anime studio Madhouse.

The first season premiered in Japanese television on October 2015, with a total of 12 episodes. A year later, the show announced that it will be getting a second season, which is now scheduled to premiere this April 2019.

Southeast Asian anime channel ANIMAX Asia aired the first season in September 2016.

YeY is one of the digital terrestrial sub-channels of ABS-CBN, and the second animation channel of the network after the now-defunct anime channel HEROtv.

Previous anime titles also aired on the digital TV channel include Kirarin Revolution, Rental Magica, Tears to Tiara, and Ace of Diamond.

YeY can be seen on digital terrestrial TV exclusively on ABS-CBN TVplus set-top boxes, as well as SKYcable Channel 01 (Metro Manila, CAMANAVA / Rizal, Cavite, and Laguna) and SKYdirect Channel 03.
