Southeast Asian anime channel ANIPLUS Asia has announced on Tuesday that the second season of the popular idol anime Wake Up, Girls! will be their second show airing on a simulcast basis this Autumn 2017 season.

The upcoming title will be in addition to the premiere of the male idol anime The [email protected] SideM, which is also airing next month.

 

Wake Up, Girls! New Chapter premieres on October 10, airing Every Tuesdays at 02:35am (01:35am JKT/BKK), right after the Japanese telecast.

The channel is also set to premiere the theatrical film, Wake Up, Girls! Seven Idols, which is the prequel to the anime’s first season. The film will premiere on Sunday, October 10, at 01:30am (12:30am JKT/BKK), right before the Season 2 premiere.

After overcoming countless challenges and finally emerging victorious over the nation’s idol group I-1 Club at the Idol Festival, Wake Up, Girls! – under the management of tiny Sendai production company Green Leaves Entertainment – continues their journey amidst the harsh reality of an “idol recession”.

Wake Up, Girls! is an anime series created by Yutaka “Yamakan” Yamamoto, who worked on popular titles like Kannagi: Crazy Shrine Maidens and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.

Wake Up, Girls! is also the name of the idol unit composed of the seven main voice cast.

 

The second season will be directed by Shin Itagaki, who also directed the Berserk anime series, while Satoru Kosaki returns to handle the music composition, which will be produced by anime studio Millepensee.

Airi Eino, Kaya Okuno, Mayu Yoshioka, Minami Tanaka, Miyu Takagi, Nanami Yamashita, and Yoshino Aoyama returned to voice their respective characters.
