Guts, known as the Black Swordsman, seeks sanctuary from the demonic forces that pursue him and his woman, and also vengeance against the man who branded him as an unholy sacrifice. Aided only by his titanic strength, skill, and sword, Guts must struggle against his bleak destiny, all the while fighting with a rage that might strip him of his humanity.

This will be the second anime adaptation of the popular Berserk manga series by Kentaro Miura, which has been running since 1989. The anime’s story will be following the story of the “Golden Age arc”, which became a film trilogy that was released in Japanese cinema between 2012 and 2013.

The anime adaptation is directed by Shin Itagaki, who previously handled the anime adaptation of the popular video game Devil May Cry, while Psycho-Pass scriptwriter Makoto Fukanami is handling the series composition. Hisashi Abe is handling character designs on the new anime, which is produced by GEMBA and Millepensee.

The Japanese voice cast for the movie adaptation reprises their roles on the new anime, like Hiroaki Iwanaga as “Guts”, Takahiro Sakurai as “Griffith” and Toa Yukinari as “Casca”.

Berserk premieres on July 1, airing every Friday nights at 10:00pm SG (09:00pm BKK/JKT) on ANIPLUS.
