The entire music & pop-culture world were shocked and saddened when it was announced that the British pop-art legend David Bowie passed away due to an undisclosed form of cancer at age 69.
Bowie is regarded as an “innovator” in the world of music, particularly in the pop-rock genre. He was also known for his androgynous appearances and was also known as “Ziggy Stardust”.
His singles include “Under Pressure”, his collaboration with Queen, “Starman”, “Heroes” and, just two days before his death, released the album “Blackstar”.
It is no doubt that Bowie influenced a lot of Japanese rock artists during his heyday, particularly those in the rock and visual-kei genre, which owes much influence to the rock legend.
That is why Japanese rock and visual-kei artistes took to social media to express their sadness and at the same time honor the fallen music icon.
