Tengoku Daimakyo is an upcoming anime adaptation of a Japanese sci-fi adventure manga series by Masakazu Ishiguro, which has been running in Kodansha’s Monthly Afternoon magazine since January 2018 and currently has eight volumes.

The manga had earned the top spot for the Top 20 manga series for male readers in Japanese publisher Takarajimasha’s Kono Manga ga Sugoi! rankings in 2019, as well as getting the recognition of being one of the Jury Recommended Works in the Japan Media Arts Festival for two straight years, in 2021 and 2022.

Denpa, an American publishing company that publishes the manga series under the English name “Heavenly Delusion”, describe the story:

Within the safety of the walls, youths are raised in a nursery-style setting by robots. While life there may appear stale on the surface, the children are full of potential and curiosity. In many ways it is like a slice of heaven. The outside world is a hell-scape. It is almost entirely void of anything mechanical and is now inhabited by bizarre, yet powerful super-natural beings.

Maru, with the aid of Kiruko, is out there crisscrossing what was once Tokyo for heaven. But after searching for so long, maybe heaven is more of an untenable dream than a potential reality.

Hinotaka Mori, who previously worked on several titles like Attack on Titan: Junior High and the third season of Psycho-Pass, will direct Tengoku Daimakyo’s upcoming anime adaptation, while Psycho-Pass franchise scriptwriter Makoto Fukami will handle the series composition.

Minataka Laboratory’s Utsushita will handle the character designs, which will be animated by Production I.G.

The Japanese voice cast will be lead by Gen Sato, who voiced Chrome in the popular anime franchise Dr. Stone, as “Maru” and Sayaka Senbongi, who voiced Mumei in the popular anime series Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress, as “Kiruko”.

Disney+ has been available in the Philippines since November last year and offered several Japanese anime and live action content, which includes Demon Slayer, Black Rock Shooter: Dawn Fall and Summer Time Rendering, among others.
