Subscription video on-demand service POPTV has announced on Monday that they will stream the comedy anime How Not to Summon a Demon Lord.
The service has not mentioned when will the anime series be added to their streaming lineup, but this will be the first time that the show will be dubbed in Tagalog.
How Not to Summon a Demon Lord is an anime adaptation of the Japanese fantasy comedy light novel series, written by Yukiya Murasaki and illustrated by Takahiro Tsurusaki, which is being published by Kodansha since December 2014, under its Kodansha Lanove Bunko imprint, and currently has 13 volumes.
The light novel also inspired a manga adaptation by Naoto Fukuda, which is being published in Kodansha’s Suiyobi no Sirius magazine since June 2015, and currently has 12 volumes published.
J-Novel Club, which releases the light novel on digital platforms, described the story:
In the MMORPG Cross Reverie, Takuma Sakamoto is so powerful that he is lauded as the “Demon Lord” by other players. One day, he is summoned to a world outside his own– but with the same appearance he had in the game! There, he meets two girls who both proclaim themselves to be his Summoner. They perform an Enslavement Ritual to turn him into their Summon… but that’s when Takuma’s passive ability <<Magic Reflection>> activates!
Instead, it is the girls who become enslaved! Though Takuma may be the strongest Sorcerer there is, he has no idea how to talk with other people. It is here he makes his choice: to act based on his persona from the game!
How Not to Summon a Demon Lord anime is directed by Yuta Murano, who directed the sci-fi anime Brave Beats, while Is the order a rabbit? slice-of-life anime scriptwriter Kazuyuki Fudeyasu handled series composition.
Shizue Kaneko, who previously worked in several Doraemon theatrical anime adaptations, will adapt Tsurusaki’s original character designs, which was produced by anime studio Ajiado.
The first season was aired on Japanese television from July to September 2018, which has a total of 12 episodes.
The anime is set to have a second season, to be known as How Not to Summon a Demon Lord Ω, which is scheduled to premiere in April of this year. Black Jack anime’s chief director Satoshi Kuwabara will be taking over the directorial role.
