Global streaming giant Netflix has announced on Tuesday that they are boosting their anime lineup for 2021 with the addition of 16 new titles.
The company announced on their Netflix Anime Festival, which was streamed on their Netflix Anime YouTube channel, their upcoming original titles:
Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, Godzilla Singular Point, Eden, Vampire in the Garden, Yasuke, Pacific Rim: The Black, Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy – Earthrise, Trese, B: the Beginning Succession, Baki Hanma, Thermae Romae Novae, High-Rise Invasion, Rilakkuma’s Theme Park Adventure, Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan, The Way of the Househusband and Spriggan.
Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness is an upcoming 3D computer-generated (CG) anime series, based on the popular Resident Evil franchise by Japanese video game developer Capcom.
The upcoming series will be produced by TMS Entertainment with CG animation handled by Quebico, which is set to premiere next year.
Godzilla Singular Point is an upcoming television anime series, which will be co-produced by anime studios BONES and Orange.
The anime will be directed by Atsushi Takahashi, who previously worked in the anime film adaptation of Blue Exorcist, while The Empire of Corpses novel creator Toh Enjoe will handle the series composition.
Kazue Kato worked on the original character designs, while Eiji Yamamori will work on the Kaiju design. The upcoming series is set to premiere next year.
Eden is an upcoming science-fiction anime series, which will be co-produced by Qubic Pictures and CGCG.
The upcoming series will cast Marika Kono (“Claire Fugo”, Granbelm) as “Sara”, Kentaro Ito (“Renji Abarai”, Bleach) as “E92”, Kyoko Hikami (“Satomi Kozeki”, Gunparade Orchestra) as “A37” and Koichi Yamadera (“Spike Spiegel”, Cowboy Bebop) as “Zero”.
The upcoming series is scheduled to be released on Netflix in May 2021.
Vampire in the Garden is an upcoming anime series, which will be produced by anime studio WIT STUDIO.
The upcoming series will be directed by Ryotaro Makihara, who previously worked on the anime film adaptation of The Empire of Corpses novel, while Tetsuya Nishio, who also worked on the long-running Naruto anime series, will handle character designs.
The upcoming series is set to premiere next year.
Yasuke is an upcoming fantasy period drama anime, which is based on the historical figure Yasuke, a samurai of African origin who served under Oda Nobunaga in the 16th century.
The upcoming series will be directed by LeSean Thomas, who is known for working in animated shows such as Black Dynamite, The Legend of Korra, The Boondocks and Canon Busters.
Character designs will be handled by Takeshi Koike, who previously worked in Redline anime film and Lupin III: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine television anime series, which will be produced by anime studio MAPPA. The upcoming series is set to premiere next year.
Pacific Rim: The Black is an upcoming animated series, based on the sci-fi monster film by Travis Beacham and Guillermo del Toro.
The upcoming series will be produced by Japanese anime studio Polygon Pictures with American film production company Legendary Entertainment, which is set to premiere next year.
Trese is an upcoming animated series, based on the Filipino crime and horror comic book series, written by Budjette Tan and illustrated by Kajo Baldisimo, which had been running since December 2005.
Filipino-American Jay Oliva will serve as the upcoming show’s executive producer, which will be produced by BASE Entertainment, and is set to premiere next year.
B: The Beginning Succession is the sequel to the 12-episode anime series, which was released on the streaming platform in March 2018.
Kazuto Nakazawa will now serve as the upcoming season’s chief director, where he will now be joined by Itsuro Kawasaki as its director. Kawasaki previously worked on anime shows such as Rental Magica, Chrome Shelled Regios, Listen to Me, Girls. I Am Your Father! and True Cooking Master Boy.
The second season is set to be streamed on Netflix in 2021.
Baki Hanma will be the third Baki anime series on Netflix, which will serve as the sequel to the Baki anime series that ran from June 2018 to June 2020.
The upcoming anime series is based on the third manga series, serialized in Akita Shoten’s Weekly Shonen Champion magazine from December 2005 to August 2012.
The upcoming series is set to be released on the streaming platform in 2021. Keisuke Itagaki, creator of the popular manga series, also released a special illustrator for the event.
Thermae Romae Novae is an upcoming anime series based on the comedy manga by Mari Yamazaki, which ran from 2008 to 2013.
The upcoming anime will be produced by anime studio NAZ, which is set to premiere next year. Yamazaki also released a special artwork celebrating the announcement.
This will be the second anime adaptation of the Thermae Romae manga series, with the first adaptation was aired in January 2012, which was produced by anime studio DLE with a total of six (6) episodes.
High-Rise Invasion is an upcoming anime series based on a Japanese survival manga series, written by Tsuina Miura and illustrated by Takahiro Oba, which ran from December 2013 to April 2019.
The upcoming series will be written and directed by Toko Machida, who previously worked in Chaika: The Coffin Princess, while Hayate the Combat Butler: Can’t Take My Eyes Off You director Yoichi Ueda will handle character designs, which will be produced by Zero-G.
The main cast include Haruka Shirashi, Shiki Aoki, Akira Sekina, Junya Enoki and Yuchiro Umehara.
The upcoming series is scheduled to be released on Netflix in February 2021.
Rilakkuma’s Theme Park Adventure is an upcoming stop-motion animation series, which will be the second series on the streaming platform after Rilakkuma and Kaoru, released in 2019.
Masahito Kobayashi will return to the upcoming series as director, while Europe Kikaku’s Takashi Sumita and Makoto Ueda will join the series as its writers.
Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan is an anime series that is based on a spinoff story from Diamond is Unbreakable, the fourth part of the popular manga series JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure.
Director Toshiyuki Kato and Character designer Shunichi Ishimoto, who both worked on JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable anime series, reprise their respective roles in the anime spinoff, which is being produced by david production.
Takahiro Sakurai will portray the lead character role of “Rohan Kishibe”, which is set to be added on the streaming platform in 2021.
The Way of the Househusband is an upcoming anime adaptation of a popular Japanese comedy manga by Kousuke Oono, which has been running since February 2018.
Back Street Girls: Gokudols director Chiaki Kon and scriptwriter Susumu Yamakawa reunite to work on the upcoming anime series, which will be produced by J.C. Staff.
Japanese voice actor Kenjiro Tsuda will play the lead character “Tatsu”, which is set to premiere on Netflix in 2021.
