The official website of the slice-of-life anime Laid-Back Camp has announced on Monday that voice actress Tomoyo Kurosawa will join the voice cast for the second season.

She is known for portraying “Sylphy” in Amagi Brillant Park anime, “Miria Akagi” in The iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls series and “Kumiko Omae” in Sound! Euphonium series.

Kurosawa will portray the character Ayano Toki, also known by her nickname “Aya-chan”.

She is the childhood friend of lead character Nadeshiko Kagamihara, who knew her until middle school in Hamamatsu.

Laid-Back Camp, also known by its Japanese title Yuru Camp, is an anime adaptation of a popular Japanese slice-of-life manga series by Afro, which is being published by Japanese publisher Houbunsha since July 2015.

The manga is currently being published on their Comic Fuz digital platform since 2019, and currently has 10 volumes.

The upcoming season will be a follow-up to the first season, which was aired in Japanese television from January to March 2018. The series was also streamed worldwide on a simulcast basis through video streaming service Crunchyroll.

The video streaming service described the first season’s story:

Nadeshiko, a high school student who had moved from Shizuoka to Yamanashi, decides to see the famous, 1000 yen-bill-featured Mount Fuji. Even though she manages to bike all the way to Motosu, she’s forced to turn back because of worsening weather. Unable to set her eyes on her goal, she faints partway to her destination. When she wakes up, it’s night, in a place she’s never been before, with no way of knowing how to get home. Nadeshiko is saved when she encounters Rin, a girl who is out camping by herself. This outdoorsy girls story begins with this first encounter between Nadeshiko and Rin.

The staff from the previous season, including director Yoshiaki Kyougoku, scriptwriter Jin Tanaka and character designer Mutsumi Sasaki, will return to work on the second season, which will be produced by C-Station.

The main voice cast for the series, including Yumiri Hanamori (as Nadeshiko Kagamihara), Nao Toyama (as Rin Shima), Rie Takahashi (as Ena Saito), Aki Toyosaki (as Aoi Inuyama) and Sayuri Hara (as Chiaki Ogaki), will reprise their respective roles.

Laid-Back Camp anime’s Second season is scheduled to premiere in January 2021.

In addition to the anime series, Laid-Back Camp inspired the anime short spinoff Room Camp, which was acquired by Hong Kong-based content distributor MediaLink Entertainment Limited and streamed on their Ani-One platform from January to March last year.

The popular series was also adapted into a live-action drama, starring Haruka Fukuhara as “Rin Shima” and Yuno Ohara as “Nadeshiko Kagamihara”, which was aired on Japanese television from January to March 2020.
