Her Blue Sky is an original anime film produced by anime studio CloverWorks, which was the third anime film set in Chichibu, Saitama after Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day and The Anthem of the Heart.

The anime film was directed by Tatsuyuki Nagai, written by Mari Okada and character designs by Masayoshi Tanaka, who both previously worked in Toradora and the two previous CloverWorks films.

Shion Wakayama, who voiced “Hinata Mukai” in Gundam Build Divers Re:RISE, will portray lead character “Aoi Aioi”, while Riho Yoshioka will portray “Akane Aioi” and Ryo Yoshizawa will portray “Shinnosuke Kanomura” in their voice acting debut.

Her Blue Sky had sold 126,000 tickets in its opening weekend in Japanese cinemas last October, earning a total of JP¥166 million (about PHP77.4 million) and ranked at #4 in the Japanese box office.

During that time, the powerful Typhoon Hagibis had hit mainland Japan and became the strongest typhoon that hit the island in six decades, which caused fatalities and damages to properties, as well as closing of transportation and establishments.
