
Southeast Asian anime channel ANIPLUS Asia has announced in a television advertisement on Monday that the upcoming anime series Katsugeki TOUKEN RANBU will be airing on the channel on a simulcast basis starting next month.
The upcoming anime premieres on July 2, airing Every Sundays at 01:00am (12:00am JKT/BKK), airing right after the Japanese telecast.
The show is also expected to be available on-demand via Tribe mobile app within 24-48 hours after the initial telecast.
The year is 1863 as the tumultuous samurai era is coming to an end, Japan is split between the pro-shogunate and anti-shogunate factions. The fate of the world is threatened as an army of historical revisionists are sent from the future to alter the course of history.
In order to bring these forces down and protect the real history, two sword warriors, spirits who are swords brought to life by Saniwa (sage), rush to Edo. The polite and thoughtful Horikawa Kunihiro and the short tempered yet skillful Izuminokami Kanesada, who served the same master, confront the invading army along with a lively gang of other warriors including Mutsunokami Yoshiyuki, Yagen Toushirou, Tombokiri, and Tsurumaru Kuninaga.

Katsugeki TOUKEN RANBU is the second anime adaptation based on the highly-popular collectible card browser game Touken Ranbu, which was developed by visual novel studio Nitroplus and published by DMM Games since June 2015.
This will be the second anime adaptation of the popular online game, with Touken Ranbu Hanamaru premiered in October last year, which was also aired on ANIPLUS Asia on a simulcast basis.
The upcomimg series will be directed by Toshiyuki Shirai, who worked on several roles in Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works series, which will be produced by ufotable.
The Japanese voice cast will be lead by Kento Hama as “Mutsunokami Yoshiyuki” and
Ryohei Kimura as “Izuminokami Kanesada”.
ANIPLUS Asia are expected to announce more simulcast titles for the Summer 2017 season in the coming days.
