Filipino-language anime channel HEROtv has teased in a Facebook post on Thursday that the sports anime series Keijo!!!!!!!! will be premiering on the channel.
The anime will be in addition to previously announced titles, such as Haikyuu!! and KonoSuba, which is also set to air in the anime channel.
The post did not mention the premiere date of the title, but it is also expected to premiere within this year.
“Keijo” is a popular gambling sport where contestants stand on platforms floating on the water and must use their butts and chests to fight against each other to push each other off the platform. Nozomi Kaminashi, a high school student, aims to join the sport after she graduates. Nozomi was raised in a poor family and hopes to make lots of money by playing Keijo. She grew up training in gymnastics, and she has good balance and flexibility. After high school, Nozomi joins a training boarding school and enters the world of Keijo. Keijo!!!!!!!! is an anime adaptation of a Japanese sports manga series, written and illustrated by Daichi Sorayomi, which is being serialized by Shogakukan in Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine since July 24. The manga currently has 13 volumes.
The anime adaptation was directed by Hideya Takahashi, who worked on Fafner anime adaptations, while To Love-Ru director Takao Kato handled the series composition. Keiya Nakano, who worked on AOKANA: Four Rhythm Across the Blue anime series, handled character designs, which was produced by Xebec.
The series premiered in Japanese television on October 2016.
