Attack on Titan S2 set for simulcast airing on ANIPLUS Asia

Sequel to the highly-popular 2013 anime series premiering in April 2017.

Southeast Asian anime channel ANIPLUS Asia has announced on Friday that the second season of Attack on Titan will premiere on the network in April 2017.

The new season of the highly-popular anime series will be airing on a simulcast basis, but no further details have been released.

Attack on Titan is an anime adaptation of the manga series by Hajime Isayama, which is being serialized in Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shonen Magazine since September 2009. The manga currently has 21 volumes.

The second season will continue the story line of the first season, which was aired in Japanese television on May to September 2013. The anime was one of ANIPLUS Asia’s first offerings when the channel was launched in late November 2013.

 

Tetsuro Araki, who was the director of the first season, will now be the chief director of the second season and episode director Masashi Koizuka is set to take over as director.

Series scriptwriter Yasuko Kobayashi, character designer Kyoji Asano and other main staff members are set to return for the second season. WIT STUDIO will once again produce the anime.

The lead voice casts are set to return for the second season, including Yuuki Kaji as “Eren Jaeger” and Yui Ishikawa as “Mikasa Ackerman”.
