The whole nation is in mourning as 44 personnel from the elite Special Action Forces (SAF) of the Philippine National Police (PNP) was killed in an ambush last Sunday, January 25, while pursuing an operation against two terror suspects affiliated from Jemaah Islamiyah.
Philippine President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III has declared Friday, January 30, National Day of Mourning in honor of the fallen personnel who died while on duty.
But there are several people, including some in social media, who have observed that the Pool feed, produced by the government organization Radio Television Malacañang (RTVM), may have used a soundtrack from the hit anime series Naruto.
It has been pointed out that RTVM may have used the rendition of the soundtrack “Sadness & Sorrow” by Toshiro Matsuda, performed by violinist & YouTube artist Taylor Davis.
For comparison, this is the original version of the soundtrack.
To be frank, as others have said, the song is most certainly a fitting tribute to heroes who have dedicated their lives for this country. For that, we would like to say thank you.
Anime Pilipinas would like to extend our deepest and sincerest condolences to the families, friends and colleagues of the 44 personnel of PNP-Special Action Forces who was killed while on duty in Mamasapano, Maguindanao. We would like to send our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
