A representative of Galaxy Records, an independent record label in the Philippines, has confirmed to Anime Pilipinas that they will be releasing an album of the highly-popular idol group AKB48 this weekend.
This coincides with the upcoming Cool Japan Festival 2015 event, happening this November 7 and 8 at the TriNoma Activity Center in Quezon City, where the idol group’s sub-unit Team 8 are also set to perform in the country for the first time.
The group’s fifth album, Tsugi no Ashiato, will be released for a limited time starting this Friday, November 6, until Sunday, November 8, at The Landmark and Astrovision record stores in TriNoma Mall.
People who purchase the album will also be receiving a special AKB48 poster, which will be available while supplies last.
When asked if they would consider bringing albums from other Japanese music artists, the representative tells Anime Pilipinas that they would.
Tsugi no Ashiato, “The Next Footsteps” in English, is the fifth studio album of the idol group AKB48 and the second double-album, which was released in Japanese record stores on January 22, 2014.
The album debut at Number 1 at the weekly Oricon Albums Chart, where it sold over 960,000 copies. The following month, the album became the idol group’s second successive album that was able to sell over a million copies.
The album’s singles include “Manatsu no Sounds Good!”, “So Long!” and “Koi Suru Fortune Cookie”, which were released between 2012 and 2013.
Galaxy Records is a sister label of PolyEast Records (formerly EMI Philippines) and Universal Records, who handles popular local music artists, as well as license holders of foreign acts including Western & K-pop music artists.
