Singapore-based anime distributor MUSE Asia has announced on Wednesday that they will stream the upcoming anime Higehiro: After Being Rejected, I Shaved and Took in a High School Runaway this Spring 2021.
The upcoming anime will premiere on April 5, streaming every Mondays at 10:30pm PHT, within an hour after its initial Japanese telecast.
Higehiro: After Being Rejected, I Shaved and Took in a High School Runaway is an upcoming anime adaptation of a Japanese romantic comedy light novel series by Shimesaba, which initially started as self-published web novel in Kadokawa’s user-generated novel publishing website Kakuyomu in March 2017.
Kadokawa Shoten has picked-up the series as a light novel series in February 2018 under its Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko imprint, with booota as its illustrator. The light novel series currently has four (4) volumes.
The series has also being published as a manga on Kadokawa Shoten’s Monthly Shonen Ace magazine since November 2018, with Imaru Adachi as its illustrator. The manga currently has three (3) volumes.
MUSE Asia described the upcoming anime’s story:
Yoshida, a 26-year-old salaryman, is on his way home from a night of drinking after being dumped by his unrequited love. He bumps into Sayu, a high school girl, who is sitting by herself on the side of the road. Drunk as a skunk, Yoshida unconsciously puts Sayu, who has no place to stay, up for a night. The next morning, he wakes up to a delicious smell of miso soup.
“Who the hell are you?! Why is there a high school girl in my room?”
“I asked you to let me stay in your room and you agreed. You said, ‘Miso soup. Make me miso soup every day and I’ll let you stay’.”
“What?! There’s no way I said that!”
Sayu has run away from home and has nowhere to go, so he can’t bring himself to kick her out. Yoshida allows her to live with him on the condition that she does some housework. The delicate dynamics between the runaway high school girl and the salaryman are both frustrating and warm. Their mysterious life together has begun.
The upcoming anime series will be written by Deko Akao, who previously worked on anime titles such as Snow White with the Red Hair, Real Girl and Do You Love Your Mom and Her Two-Hit Multi-Target Attacks?, which will be directed by Manabu Kamikita.
Takayuki Nobuchi, who previously worked on anime titles like Girls Beyond the Wasteland and Ro-Kyu-Bu!, will handle character designs, which will be produced by project No.9.
Kazuyuki Okitsu, who played “Kazuhiko Sugihara” in the comedy anime Back Street Girls: Gokudols, will voice the lead character “Yoshida”, while Kana Ichinose, who played “Ichigo” in the mecha drama anime DARLING in the FRANXX, will voice “Sayu Ogiwara”.
Higehiro: After Being Rejected, I Shaved and Took in a High School Runaway will be MUSE Asia’s third simulcast anime title for the Spring 2021 season.
The distributor previously announced that they will stream the second season of Zombie Land Saga on Thursday, April 8, and the second season of Moriarty the Patriot on Sunday, April 4, within hours after Japan.
More titles are expected to be announced in the coming days, which will be streamed either on their YouTube channel or their partner streaming platforms.
