That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is an anime series based on a Japanese fantasy light novel series by Fuse, which initially started as a self-published web novel that was published from 2013 to 2016.

The novel has been picked up by Micro Magazine under their GC Novels imprint since May 2014, with Mitz Vah serving as its illustrator. The light novel currently has 16 volumes.

The novel has also been given a manga adaptation by Kodansha in March 2015, which has since launched several spinoff manga series.

MUSE Asia described the upcoming season’s story:

A country built by our main character Rimuru and the many monsters who look up to him – the Jura Tempest Federation –, through agreements and trade with neighbouring countries, is the ideal “country where humans and monsters can walk alongside.”

Rimuru has a tendency to “feel kindly towards humans”, because of its former nature as a human being…

However, there is a clear “hostility toward demons” that exists in this world. When faced with that unreasonable reality, Rimuru makes its choice.

“Is there something that you don’t want to lose?” ――

Fans’ long-awaited Reincarnation entertainment title, let’s rush into this stormy new chapter!

The second season of the popular series will now be directed by Atsushi Nakayama, who directed several episodes of the first season, replacing Yasuhito Kikuchi.

Main staff members, including scriptwriter Kazuyuki Fudeyasu, character designer Ryoma Ebata and art director Ayumi Sato, returns to work on the upcoming season, which will be produced by 8 bit.

Miho Okasaki will return to portray the show’s lead character “Rimuru Tempest”, where she will be joined this season by Manami Numakura as “Hinata Sakaguchi”, Chiaki Kobayashi as “Shogo Taguchi” and Sho Nogami as “Kyoya Tachibana”, among others.

The second season of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime will be MUSE Asia’s second simulcast anime title this Winter 2021 season.

The company previously announced that they have acquired Cells at Work! Code Black, the spinoff of the popular Cells at Work! series, Heaven’s Design Team and Supposed a Kid from the Last Dungeon Boonies moved to a starter town?.
