Supposed a Kid from the Last Dungeon Boonies moved to a starter town? is an upcoming anime series based on a Japanese light novel series, written by Toshio Sato and illustrated by Nao Watanuki.

The light novel is being published by SB Creative under their GA Bunko imprint since February 2017 and currently has 10 volumes.

The fantasy comedy novel has been adapted into a manga series in Square Enix’s Gangan Online magazine since September 2017, as well as a spinoff series which started in January this year.

MUSE Asia describes the upcoming anime’s story:

Lloyd is a young boy living in a village far away from the city. The him who dreams of becoming a soldier is deemed as the “weakest man in the village”. And hence the villagers around him are very opposed to this aspiration of his.

Even then, Lloyd’s determination holds firm, and he decides to set off for the royal capital. However, the people of the village, including him, are unaware of one critical fact. They are the descendants of heroes who once saved the world, and all of them possess superhuman powers.

Also, “the weakest man in the village”, Lloyd is actually abnormally strong by outside standards…

The upcoming anime adaptation will be directed by migmi, who previously worked as episode director in several episodes of Hunter×Hunter’s 2011 adaptation and Gintama, while Noragami scriptwriter Deko Akao will handle the series composition.

Makoto Iino, who previously worked on anime titles such as Reikenzan: Hoshikuzu-tachi no Utage and Demon Lord, Retry!, will adapt Watanuki’s original character designs, which will be produced by LIDEN FILMS.

Yumiri Hanamori, who voiced “Nadeshiko Kagamihara” in the popular slice-of-life anime Laid-Back Camp, will play the lead character Lloyd Belladonna, where she will be joined by Ai Kayano as “Marie”, Natsumi Hioka as “Alka”, Madoka Asahina as “Selen”, Minami Tsuda as “Riho” and Miku Ito as “Phyllo”, among others.
