Singapore-based anime licensor MUSE Asia has announced on Friday that they have acquired the upcoming comedy anime Heaven’s Design Team.
The upcoming anime is scheduled to premiere on Japanese television this January 7, but the company clarify that the title is not yet part of their YouTube simulcast streaming lineup.
Heaven’s Design Team is an upcoming anime adaptation of a Japanese comedy manga series, written by Hebi-Zou and Tsuta Suzuki with illustrations by Tarako.
The manga is being published in Kodansha’s Monthly Morning Two magazine since February 2017 and currently has five volumes.
Kodansha USA, which publishes the English-translated manga in North America, describes the story:
In Heaven’s Animal Design Department, designers create a variety of new animals daily while contending with the unreasonable requests of their client: God. Funny, interesting, and full of useful information, this series answers questions such as, “Why can’t unicorns exist?”, “What makes an animal taste delicious?”, “What’s the most powerful creature in the ocean?”, and, “Bird versus snake: who would win?” You won’t believe it’s a manga series when you read up on the featured animals in the included encyclopedia entries. Heaven’s Design Team will make your next trip to the zoo or aquarium 100 times more fun!
The upcoming anime adaptation will be directed by Sochi Matsui, who previously worked in the fantasy comedy anime Chaika: The Coffin Princess, while Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches scriptwriter Michiko Yokote will handle the series composition.
Sachiko Oohashi, who previously worked in anime titles such as Oruchuban Ebichu and Macross Delta, will handle character designs, which will be produced by Asahi Production.
Japanese voice cast will be lead by Junya Enoki (“Takeru Takaishi”, Digimon Adventure tri. anime film series) as “Shimoda” and Yumi Hara (“Albedo”, Overlord anime series) as “Ueda”.
Heaven’s Design Team will be MUSE Asia’s latest anime title to be acquired by the licensor from the Winter 2021 lineup, which include Cells at Work! Code Black, the spinoff series of the popular series Cells at Work!
