HYPNOSIS MIC-Division Rap Battle- Rhyme Anima is an upcoming anime series based on the Japanese mixed-media project by record company King Records, under their Evil Line Records. The project’s character designs were created by video game developer Idea Factory, under their Otomate label.

The project started with music singles in 2017, which expanded to four manga titles published on several Kodansha magazines since 2019, live stage play in November-December 2019, and its smartphone game launching in March of this year.

The anime series was initially set to premiere in July, but was delayed to October to prioritize the health and safety of the staff and cast members because of the COVID-19 pandemic, in light with the Japanese government’s state of emergency declaration at that time.

Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s and Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V director Katsumi Ono and scriptwriter Shin Yoshida reunites to work on the upcoming anime.

Minako Shiba, who previously worked on the popular mystery series Black Butler, will handle character designs, which will be produced by A-1 Pictures.

The project’s cast members will reprise their rolesin the anime series, including Subaru Kimura (“Gian”, Doraemon’s third television anime series) as “Ichiro Yamada”, Sho Hayami (“Sosuke Aizen”, Bleach) as “Jakurai Jinguji”, Shintaro Asanuma (“Takatoshi Tsuda”, Seitokai Yakuindomo series) as “Samatoki Aohitsugi” and Yusuke Shirai (“Masaki Uehara”, Ao-chan Can’t Study) as “Ramuda Amemura”.

HYPNOSIS MIC-Division Rap Battle- Rhyme Anima will be ANIPLUS Asia’s third simulcast anime title for the Autumn 2020 season, after D4DJ First Mix and Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? III.

The anime channel is set to announce more simulcast titles in the coming days.
