On Earth in the near future, humanity faced imminent destruction from mysterious giant creatures known as “Huge.” The entire world unites against the Huge, and successfully develops weaponry known as “CHARM” (Counter Huge Arms) by combining science and magic. CHARM exhibits high rates of synchronization with teenaged girls, and the girls who use CHARM are viewed as heroes called “Lilies.”
Throughout the world, “Garden” military academies are established to train Lilies to face the Huge and to serve as bases to protect and guide people. This is a story about fighting girls who aim to become Lilies at one such Garden. (Synopsis from Anime News Network)
Assault Lily Bouquet is an upcoming anime series based on the Assault Lily mixed-media franchise by Japanese doll maker Azone International and creative group acus in 2013, which initially started with action figurines.
Aside from the upcoming anime series, the franchise also inspired two novels, which was adapted into stage play adaptations, as well as manga and video game adaptations.
The anime series was initially set to premiere in July, but was postponed to October due to health and safety concerns, as well as production issues, because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Assault Lily Bouquet will be directed by Shouji Saeki, who previously worked on the Wish Upon the Pleiades anime series, with March comes in like a lion episode director Hajime Ohtani serving as its chief director.
Saeki also works on the upcoming anime’s scripts together with Fuyashi Tou, who is known as the scriptwriter for the Monogatari anime series, while Grimgar, Ashes and Illusions chief animation director Mieko Hosoi will handle character designs, which will be produced by anime studio SHAFT.
The upcoming anime series will be lead by Hikaru Akao (“Kaoruko Moeta”, Comic Girls) as “Riri Hitotsuyanagi” and Yuko Natsuyoshi (“Sasha Necron”, The Misfit of Demon King Academy) as “Yuyu Shirai”.
