Singapore-based anime licensor MUSE Asia has announced on Sunday that they have acquired the upcoming mystery anime series Moriarty the Patriot.

The company plans to release the distribution details of the upcoming series in the Asian region at a later date.

Moriarty the Patriot is an upcoming anime adaptation of a Japanese manga series, written by Ryosuke Takeuchi and illustrated by Hikaru Miyoshi, which is loosely based on Arthur Conan Doyle’s popular detective series Sherlock Holmes.

The manga is being published in Shueisha’s Jump Square magazine since August 2016, and currently has 12 volumes.

 

Moriarty the Patriot will be directed by Kazuya Nomura, who previously worked in the sports anime Run with the Wind, while the team of Go Zappa and Taku Kishimoto will handle the scripts.

Tooru Ookubo, who worked on the Sengoku Basara anime series, will handle character designs, which will be produced by Production I.G.

Tasuku Hatanaka (“Denki Kaminari”, My Hero Academia series) will perform the upcoming anime’s opening theme song “DYING WISH”, while STEREO DIVE FOUNDATION will perform the ending theme song “ALPHA”.

Soma Saito, known for portraying “Hermes” in Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? series, will play the titular character of William James Moriarty.

The upcoming show is set make its television premiere in Japan on Sunday, October 11.
