Southeast Asian anime channel ANIMAX Asia has announced on Friday that My Next Life As A Villainess: All Routes Lead To Doom! will be their first simulcast anime title for Spring 2020 season.
The upcoming show will premiere on April 5, airing every Sunday nights at 08:30pm PHT, within the same day as Japan. Late-night encore telecast at 11:00pm PHT.
My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! is an upcoming anime adaptation of a Japanese romantic comedy light novel series, written by Satoru Yamaguchi.
The novel initially started as a self-published novel in 2014, which has been picked-up by Ichijinsha since August 2014 under their Ichijinsha Bunko Iris imprint, with Nami Hidaka serving as its illustrator. The light novel currently has eight (8) volumes.
J-Novel Club, which publishes the novel on their digital platforms in English, describes the story:
After hitting her head particularly hard one day, Duke Claes’ daughter, Katarina, suddenly recalls all the memories of her past life: that of a teenage Japanese girl. Just before her untimely death, this girl recalls playing an otome game… that is exactly like the world she’s living in now!
She is now Katarina Claes, the antagonist of the otome game, who nastily hounded the protagonist until the end. Knowing all the possible outcomes of the game, she realizes that every single possible route ends with Katarina being murdered or exiled! In order to avoid these Catastrophic Bad Ends, she has to use her knowledge of the game and her own wiles, starting with breaking off this engagement with the prince…
Will Katarina survive while making her way through this world, where bad flags trip at every turn? Find out in this reverse-harem rom-com, led by everybody’s favorite villainess!
The upcoming anime adaptation will be directed by Keisuke Inoue, who previously worked on the romantic comedy anime Ao-chan Can’t Study!, while Gyrozetter scriptwriter Megumi Shimizu handled the series composition.
Miwa Oshima, who previously worked on anime shows like Baka and Test – Summon the Beasts and Ao-chan Can’t Study!, handled the upcoming anime’s character designs, which will be produced by SILVER LINK.
Maaya Uchida, who voiced in several anime shows including Is the order a rabbit? and The Promised Neverland, will play the lead character “Katarina Claes”.
