Southeast Asian anime channel ANIPLUS Asia has announced on Friday that Tower of God will be their first simulcast anime title for Spring 2020.
The upcoming anime is scheduled to premiere on April 2, airing every Thursdays at 01:00am PHT, within an hour after its Japanese telecast. Same day encore telecast at 09:00pm PHT.
Tower of God is an upcoming Japanese anime adaptation of a South Korean web manhwa series by S.I.U., which has been serialized Naver Webtoon, the digital manhwa service of South Korean conglomerate Naver Corporation, since June 2010.
An official English translation of the title has been published through the company’s Webtoon mobile application since 2014.
Aside from the upcoming anime series, the manhwa also received a mobile game adaptation in 2013, as well as its merchandise sales.
ANIPLUS Asia describes the upcoming anime series:
Reach the top, and everything will be yours. At the top of the tower exists everything in this world, and all of it can be yours. You can become a god.
This is the story of the beginning and the end of Rachel, the girl who climbed the tower so she could see the stars, and Bam, the boy who needed nothing but her.
Takashi Sano, who previously worked in Sengoku Basara: End of Judgement and several Lupin III adaptations, will direct the upcoming anime, while Trickster scriptwriter Erika Yoshida handles the series composition.
Masashi Kudo and Miho Tanino will handle the show’s character designs, which will be produced by Telecom Animation Films, in collaboration with Crunchyroll and Naver Webtoon
The Japanese voice cast will be lead by Taichi Ichikawa (“Seiji Maki”, Bloom Into You) as “Bam” and Saori Hayami (“Yukino Yukinoshita”, My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU) as “Rachel”.
ANIPLUS Asia is available in the Philippines on SKYcable Channel 139 in Metro Manila, CAMANAVA, Rizal, Bulacan and Laguna, G Sat Channel 74, and in select provincial cable providers around the country. Also available on their respective over-the-top streaming services.
