As previously reported, Film distributor Pioneer Films has acquired local distribution rights for Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl anime film in Philippine cinemas this month.

The company has announced on Thursday that they will be holding an advanced screening for the anime film on Saturday, November 9, at Cinema 4 of SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City.

Tickets for the advanced screening will be at PHP500, which will be inclusive to the first 400 people who purchased the ticket:

  • 1pc Character Board (Four designs chosen at random)
  • 1pc Film strips (Six designs chosen at random)

Moviegoers can also avail of the tickets without the freebies, priced at PHP400.

 

Sources also confirmed to Anime Pilipinas that the anime film will have its general release exclusively at SM Cinema branches, as per agreement with ANIPLUS Asia.

Southeast Asian anime channel ANIPLUS Asia, who previously aired Rascal Does Not Dream of a Bunny Girl Senpai television series, also serves as the master licensee for the film.

The film’s general release in the Philippines is scheduled for this Wednesday, November 13.

Sakuta Azusagawa is enjoying his exciting love-filled life with his upperclassman and girlfriend, Mai Sakurajima, when things take a turn at appearance of his first love, Shoko Makinohara.

For some reason, “two versions” of Shoko exists—a middle school student and an adult.

Sakuta somehow ends up living with Shoko, which causes a rift in his relationship with Mai.

Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl is a Japanese anime film based on the Rascal Does Not Dream of a Bunny Girl Senpai light novel series, written by Hajime Kamoshida and illustrated by Keeji Mizoguchi, which is being published by Kadokawa’s ASCII Media Works since April 2014 and currently has nine volumes.

The anime film has adapted the sixth and seventh volumes of the light novel series, and serves as the sequel to the 13-episode television anime series aired during the Autumn 2018 season.

 

The staff from the television series, including director Soichi Masui, scriptwriter Masahiro Yokotani and character designer Saotomi Tamura, returned to work on the anime film.

The voice casts from the television series, including Kaito Ishikawa (as Sakuta Azusagawa), Asami Seto (as Mai Sakurajima) and Inori Minase (as Shoko Makinohara), also returned to work on the film.

 

Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl premiered in Japanese cinemas last June 15, which had sold around 66,000 tickets and earned around JP¥100 million (about PHP47.2 million) and debut at #7 in the Japanese box office on opening weekend.

The anime film recently had its premiere in the United States during Anime Expo in Los Angeles, California last July 7.

 

ANIPLUS Asia aired the anime series Rascal Does Not Dream of a Bunny Girl Senpai on a simulcast basis from October to December last year.

The anime channel has previously screened the anime film in Singapore and Thailand last August.
