ANIMAX Asia adds “Granbelm”, “The Demon Girl Next Door” to 2019 lineup

Anime channel hinted at a possible airing of The Seven Deadly Sins anime sequel, which will air in Japan next month.

Southeast Asian anime channel ANIMAX Asia has announced in an advertisement that two additional titles has been added to the channel’s programming lineup this 2019.

The anime channel announced that the mecha anime Granbelm and comedy anime The Demon Girl Next Door is set to air possibly within the year, but had not mentioned a specific premiere date for each titles.

The channel has also hinted that it might air The Seven Deadly Sins: Wrath of Gods, the latest season of the popular anime franchise, which is scheduled to air in Japan starting this coming October.

It had been nearly 1,000 years since all the magic in the world disappeared, and most people had forgotten it ever existed. Granbelm is an original mecha anime series produced by animation studio Nexus, which was aired in Japan during the Summer season this year.

The series was directed by Masaharu Watanabe, who previously directed the popular isekai anime series Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-, while the veteran scriptwriter Jukki Hanada handled the series composition, and Kei Imanaka handled character designs.

The Japanese voice cast are lead by Miyuri Shimabukuro (“Yuuna Yunohana”, Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs) as “Mangetsu Kohinata” and Atsumi Tanezaki (“Chise Hatori”, The Ancient Magus’ Bride) as “Shingetsu Ernesta Fukami”.

The Demon Girl Next Door is an anime adaptation of a four-panel slice-of-life comedy manga series by Izumi Ito, which is being published in Houbunsha’s Manga Time Kirara Karat magazine since 2014 and currently has five volumes.

The anime series is directed by Hiroaki Sakurai, who previously worked in Cromartie High School and GA: Geijutsuka Art Design Class, while Skip Beat scriptwriter Keiichiro Ochi handled the series composition. Mai Otsuka, who previously worked in Shakugan no Shana and Non Non Biyori, handled character designs, which was produced by J.C. Staff.

The Japanese voice cast are lead by Konomi Kohara (“Akane Tachibana”, Classroom of the Elite) as “Yuko Yoshida” and Akari Kito (“Siluca Meletes”, Record of Grandcrest War) as “Momo Chiyoda”.

The Seven Deadly Sins: Wrath of the Gods will be third television anime adaptation of the popular franchise, based on the fantasy adventure manga series by Nakaba Suzuki, which being published in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine since October 2012 and currently has 38 volumes.

The latest anime series, which is set to premiere in Japan this October, will head into the story’s climax and may last for about 40 episodes.

The upcoming series will have new staff, including Susumu Nishizawa as director and Rintarou Ikeda handling series composition, which will now be produced at Studio DEEN. A-1 Pictures produced the previous adaptations of the hit series.

The popular show’s Japanese voice casts, such as Yuuki Kaji (as Meliodas), Sora Amamiya (as Elizabeth), Misaki Kuno (as Hawk), Aoi Yuki (as Diane), Tatsuhisa Suzuki (as Ban), Jun Fukuyama (as King), Yuuhei Takagi (as Gowther), Maaya Sakamoto (as Merlin), and Tomokazu Sugita (as Escanor), will return to the upcoming series.

ANIMAX Asia has aired previous seasons of the series, including the four-part “Signs of Holy War” special. The anime’s recent season, The Seven Deadly Sins: Revival of the Commandments, was aired in April last year.

 

 

ANIMAX Asia originally announced last December of four new titles airing on the channel this year, which are Lupin the Third Part 5, Yo-Kai Watch Shadowside, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind and Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody.

Lupin the Third Part 5 premiered last February, followed by Yo-Kai Watch Shadowside in June, and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind started in August. Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody is scheduled to premiere this September 24.
