Osomatsu-san the Movie is an anime film, based on the 1962 comedy manga series Osomatsu-kun by Fujio Akatsuka.
The anime movie also serves as the sequel to the 2015 television anime reboot, which celebrates the late author’s 80th birthday. The reboot ran for two seasons with the first season airing in 2015 and the second season airing in 2017, which ran for 50 episodes.
The film opened in Japanese cinemas last March 15, which ranked at Number 7 in its opening weekend.
The staff for the Osomatsu-san television anime series, including director Yoichi Fujita, scriptwriter Shu Matsubara and music composer Yukari Hashimoto, returned to work on the anime film.
Naoyuki Asano, who adapted Akatsuka’s original character designs, also returned to work on the film, which will be produced by Pierrot.
The Matsuno siblings lead the anime film, which are composed of Takahiro Sakurai (as Osomatsu), Yuichi Nakamura (as Karamatsu), Hiroshi Kamiya (as Choromatsu), Jun Fukuyama (as Ichimatsu), Daisuke Ono (as Juushimatsu) and Miyu Irino (as Todomatsu).
