Global streaming giant Netflix has added last week the first installment of the Eureka Seven: Hi-Evolution film trilogy on its streaming line-up in the Philippines.
You may watch the anime film through the Netflix app on your device, or through this link: netflix.com/title/81028648.
It all begins with the story that was left untold—the earth-shattering incident where Renton’s father disappeared. With the mysterious pilot Eureka by his side, only Adroc Thurston could undo his own mistake. Now, ten years later, Eureka lies in critical condition as Renton leaves the crew of the Gekko. But when he finds himself in the care of his father’s old friends, he must make a decision that will change everything. (Synopsis from Madman Entertainment)
Psalms of the Planet Eureka Seven: Hi-Evolution is the first part of the Eureka Seven: Hi-Evolution film trilogy, which is an alternate retelling of the 2005 sci-fi mecha anime series.
The film was screened in Japanese cinemas in November 2017.
Tomoki Kyoda, who worked as the director of the previous Eureka Seven anime adaptations, became the film’s chief director with Hisatoshi Shimizu serving as director, while scriptwriter Dai Sato and character designer Kenichi Yoshida returned to work on the film trilogy, which was produced by BONES.
The lead voice cast for the television series, including Yuko Sanpei (as Renton) and Kaori Nazuka (as Eureka), returned to voice their respective roles in the films.
Singapore-based anime licensor ODEX previously announced that they were planning to screen the first part of the trilogy throughout Southeast Asia in 2017, but was only able to screen in Singapore and Malaysia.
Its second film, Anemone Eureka Seven: Hi-Evolution, was screened in the Philippines during the Philippine leg of The ODEX Film Festival, which was held last November.
