U.C. 0097, one year after the opening of “Laplace’s Box.” Despite the revelation of the Universal Century Charter that acknowledges the existence and rights of Newtypes, the framework of the world has not been greatly altered.

The conflict later dubbed the “Laplace Incident” is thought to have ended with the downfall of the Neo Zeon remnants known as the Sleeves. In its final battle, two full psycho-frame mobile suits displayed power beyond human understanding. The white unicorn and the black lion were sealed away to remove this danger from people’s consciousness, and they should now be completely forgotten.

However, the RX-0 Unicorn Gundam 03, which disappeared two years earlier, is now about to show itself in the Earth Sphere once more. A golden phoenix… named Phenex.

Mobile Suit Gundam Narrative (NT) is the latest sci-fi mecha animated film of the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise, based on Gundam Unicorn’s 11th novel series “Phoenix Hunting”.

The anime film will be set in the Gundam UC universe, which will take place after the Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn RE:0096 timeline.

Mobile Suit Gundam NT was directed by Shunichi Yoshikawa, who previously directed episodes of Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt, while scripts were handled by Mobile Suit Gundam UC writer Harutoshi Fukui.

Se Jun Kim, who worked on several Gundam series and movie adaptations, handled character designs, which was produced by anime studio Sunrise and distributed by Shochiku.

The Japanese voice cast was lead by Junya Enoki (“Takeru Takaishi”, Digimon Adventure tri.) as “Jona Bashta”, Tomo Muranaka (“Yuma Kuga”, World Trigger) as “Michelle Luio”, and Ayu Matsuura (“Rin Kaga”, Usagi Drop) as “Rita Bernal”.

The movie’s ending theme song, “narrative”, was sung under the name “SawanoHiroyuki[nZk]:LiSA”, which is a collaboration between the well-known musician & composer Hiroyuki Sawano and popular anisong singer LiSA.

The anime film premiered in Japanese cinemas last November 30, which ranked #4 in tickets sold and box office earnings during its opening weekend.

Singapore-based anime licensor ODEX has announced last September that they will be releasing the anime film in cinemas in Southeast Asian countries.
