Southeast Asian anime channel ANIMAX Asia has announced during Cosplay Mania ’18 on Saturday that they will air Fairy Tail’s final season on a simulcast basis starting this October.

Fairy Tail: Final Series will premiere on October 7, airing Every Sunday nights at 08:30pm (07:30pm JKT/BKK), within 12 hours after its Japanese telecast.

The channel also announced that they will air the latest anime adaptation of the sci-fi series The Legend of the Galactic Heroes, but they did not gave a specific premiere date.

Fairy Tail: Final Series is the third and final season of the popular adventure anime series, which was based on a Japanese manga series by Hiro Masashima, which was serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine, and ran from August 2006 to July 2017 with a total of 53 volumes.

The main staff from the previous seasons will work on the upcoming series, including director Shinji Ishihara, scriptwriter Masashi Sogo and character designers Shinji Takeuchi and Toshihiko Sano, which will be produced by anime studios A-1 Pictures, Bridge and CloverWorks.

The Japanese voice cast will be lead once again by Tetsuya Kakihara as “Natsu” and Aya Hirano as “Lucy”.

The Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These is the sixth anime adaptation based on the sci-fi novel series by Yoshiki Tanaka, which was published by Tokuma Shoten and ran from November 1982 to 1987 with a total of 10 volumes. This was also the novel’s first television anime adaptation.

Kuroko’s Basketball director Shunsuke Tada and scriptwriter Noboru Takagi reunited to work on the sci-fi anime series, while the team of Iwao Teraoka, Katsura Tsushima and Yoko Kikuchi handled character designs, which was produced by Production I.G.

The Japanese voice cast are lead by Mamoru Miyano (“Osamu Dazai”, Bungo Stray Dogs) as “Reinhard von Lohengramm” and Kenichi Suzumura (“Masato Hijirikawa”, Uta no Prince-sama series) as “Yang Wen-li”.

The television series is set to be followed up with a movie adaptation, which is set to be released in 2019.
